Day 8

We stopped at the Royal Botanical Gardens to see the Australian Garden on our way to Fitzroy in Melbourne. The red sand garden is a central feature. Once in Fitzroy, we hit Gertrude street to check out the shops, graffiti and wine cellars.

Day 7

Today we made it to the Great Ocean Road, a ferry ride across Port Phillip bay from Sorrento to Queenscliff. We stopped at Bells Beach famous for its surf and then headed to one of the wineries on the Bellarine Peninsula, Jack Rabbit.

Day 6

Today was a hike day in a couple of the amazing national parks on Mornington Peninsula, Cape Schanck with its famous lighthouse and Port Nepean at the entrance to Port Phillip bay. Stunning scenery. We also managed to enjoy some amazing local food at Merricks General Store, Sisters Kitchen Garden Cafe and DOC Mornington. Starting to feel like regulars.

Day 5

Today was a beach day. And with so many to choose from, we ended up at West Head, a stunning sandy beach. The area was used by the local Aboriginal people, the Bunurong, as a prime fishing area. We certainly enjoyed the view, shrimp on the barbie and some local bubbly, Kelpie Bridge.

Day 4

Today was a winery tour day. To start, a tasting at Salix Willow Creek followed by lunch at Montalto winery, olive grove and sculpture park. We also stopped to check out one of the artists in Red Hill, Michael Leeworthy. Check out his vid on YouTube. And a couple of amazing foodie stores, Cellar and Pantry and DOC Mornington (foodie heaven)... Huub made guacamole!

Day 2

After a day, we have our bearings and have been enjoying bombing around Red Hill, Main Ridge and the other wine areas of Mornington Peninsula. Lunch at Foxey's Hangout, a pit stop at Main Ridge dairy. We ended up at Port Phillip Estate winery.
